City Leadership

The City is governed under the mayor-council form of government. The mayor is elected on an at-large basis for a four year term and the five council members are elected from single member districts, each for a four year term. The mayor and council serve on a part time basis. The mayor serves as chief executive officer of the City and is responsible for the daily operations of all departments of the City. The council acts as the legislative branch of the City and serves in the role of approving all finances for the City.

Regular meetings of the Mayor and Council are scheduled for the first and third Tuesdays of each month.  Council meetings are held at 6:00 P.M in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 107 Mildred Street, Columbiana, Alabama.  All meetings are open to the public.

To be placed on the Council Agenda, contact the office of  the City Clerk no later than the Wednesday immediately prior to the scheduled meeting.    All requests for addition to the council agenda, including requests to address the City Council, are subject to final approval by the Mayor based on the regular business items scheduled for that particular meeting.  The minutes of the Council's meetings are posted at the website, once approved, or may be obtained by contacting the office of the City Clerk.
